Our Center
Philosophy & Curriculum
Kinder Village is a play-based childcare center that is focused on three main concepts:

1. Intergenerational Programming
One of our philosophies is our intergenerational programming that strives to enrich the lives of the older adults on campus. Our goal is to form relationships between our Kinders and Grandfriends on campus. We have monthly activities planned throughout our assisted living, 2 skilled nursing, and independent communities.
2. Learning Through Play
The philosophy of play-based learning is that play is a key way for children to learn, develop, and grow. Teachers provide thoughtful guidance to support children's learning and development, and to help them build agency and independence. Play-based learning focuses on building social skills, such as sharing, taking turns, and resolving conflicts.
3. Learn Every Day Curriculum
Kinder Village uses Kaplan’s Learn Every Day Curriculum, which is a comprehensive curriculum for preschoolers that consists of 36 units and more than 1,300 activities to incorporate literacy, math, science, social studies, and the creative arts in ways that will enable our students to Learn Every Day!

Our Activities
Kinder Village offers both structured and informal intergenerational activities that bring children and Episcopal Homes residents together to connect, learn, and enjoy meaningful experiences.

Coloring & Crafts
We love expressing our creative
side! Kinder Village children join
our Grandfriends from Iris Park Commons once a month to color and have two scheduled craft per month where they create holiday art work with our Grandfriends.

Music & Dance
Singing, dancing, drumming! Kinder Village kids get to experience the fun of social drumming, join “dancing with Lala” twice a month, and sing with our Grandfriends once a month.

Exercise
It’s important to stay fit!
Mr. Anthony’s fitness class is a popular activity on campus that Kinder Village kids are able to join once a month. We also participate in chair exercises with Paola and our Grandfriends at Iris Park Commons.

Story Time
There's nothing better than watching children listening to stories being read to them! We have many opportunities for story time throughout campus each month, both in the classroom and with our Grandfriends.

Puzzles & Games
Ms. Jean from Iris Park Commons does a wonderful job providing games and activities for the kids. To scavenger hunts to bingo- the kids have a great time having fun playing games with their Grandfriends!

And More!
Kinder Village kids also enjoy many informal activities:
-
Outside time
-
Room visits to bed-bound residents
-
Visit residents at coffee klatch
-
Walks through Episcopal Homes
